Llandinam Village Hall

Built in 1912 for the village by David, later the first Baron, Davies. It was designed in the Arts & Crafts style and is a Grade 2 Listed Building.

Welcome to Llandinam

We like to think our village is special, with lots to see and do for both residents and villagers alike.

It has a rich history, overlooked by the Iron Age hill fort at Cefn Carnedd, an ancient church incorporating stone from the Roman fort at Caersws, and the site of an influential abbey in mediaeval times.

The coming of the railways saw the rise of the Davies family, first with David Davies, whose statue is near the bridge, then his grandchildren who contributed so much to Welsh life. Gwendoline and Margaret amassed a collection of art works and established a music festival at Gregynog. Their brother became the first Lord Davies, tirelessly campaigning for peace and public health.

The first David Davies built a home for himself at Broneirion, which is now the centre for Girlguiding Cymru, and a conference centre. Plas Dinam, where his descendants lived for many years is now available as luxury holiday accommodation, a business still run by the Davies family.

Among many public buildings provided and paid for by the family is the Grade 2 listed Llandinam Village Hall, recently renovated.

The Village Hall provides a meeting place for local groups with everything from scrabble to big screen cinema. A wide variety of live performances include both local drama productions and professional touring companies including a recent visit by the National Theatre of Wales.

There is a large community car park on the A470, with recycling facilities, next to the Lion Hotel with its own car park and which provides both accommodation and excellent food.
